Vision House Sober Living

Gender-Specific Sober Living for Women in Manchester, NH

Vision House is a sober living program for women, with two locations in the heart of Manchester, N.H.; Vision House East and Vision House West. Each house has accommodations for 15 women 18 and older. Vision House is 12-step-based sober living home, which is structured, supportive, and designed for women transitioning from residential addiction treatment. Vision House offers a safe and sober peer community environment where women can further their recovery while successfully engaging in employment, volunteering, school, and community events.

Vision House’s structured sober living environment provides a safe place for women to implement the lessons learned in residential treatment while receiving the support they need to stay anchored to sobriety and a life of purpose.

The 12 Steps and a Design for Daily Sober Living

As a part of the requirements for living at one of the Vision House locations, clients must be actively working the 12-Steps and acquire a sponsor within a week of residency. The progress they have made in their 12-Step work at the time of admission will determine how many weekly 12-Step meetings they must attend. As they near the last few Steps, they can begin to give back to others in early recovery by actively participating in 12-Step home groups and fulfilling their service positions. This enables the women to reinforce their own recovery, while being a powerful example to others.

Personal accountability is a critical element of successful long-term recovery from drugs and alcohol. Becoming aware of how one’s actions create reactions is integral to progressing successfully through the 12-Steps. Accountability skills are further developed at Vision House Sober Living through peer accountability meetings, where women must “check-in” and present their accountability progress through discussions involving employment, house behavior, and Step work. Residents at our sober living homes are held accountable for cleanliness of their living space and completion of daily chores.

Peer Support and Sponsorship

Truly the most profound and impactful aspect of the sober living programs at Vision House East and Vision House West is our focus on camaraderie and peer support. In addition to 12-Step meetings and workshops residents attend together, participation in our alumni/sponsorship program allows clients to actively engage with those earlier on in their recovery journeys. In this way, clients learn from one another and help each other grow in profound ways.
